We can touch walls that have stood for 2,000 years! Thanks to the solid construction of the Romans, much has been preserved. The Carolingians also left their mark, along with monks, nuns, and other medieval institutions. The foundations of many Old Town buildings are hundreds of years old, remarkably well-preserved thanks to peace and favorable weather.
