Lecture by Prof. Fiona Doetsch, Biozentrum, University of Basel

We know that the adult brain contains stem cells. The discovery of these stem cells raises fascinating questions about how they may affect our learning and behavior. In other cases, the same cells may contribute to cancer. Fiona Doetsch talks about the identity of brain stem cells, the signals that switch them on, how they contribute to brain plasticity, and whether they can eventually be harnessed for brain repair.
