The play "Zekameron" is staged by the theatre troupe "Free Kupalaŭcy" and is based on stories and poems by the well-known Belarusian lawyer and political prisoner Maksim Znak, who has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

"Zekameron" is a story about what happens behind bars in Belarus — the conditions in which political prisoners live, how a person feels in prison, who surrounds them, how communication happens among all these people, how this affects each of them, and ultimately, how a political prisoner manages to remain a human.

The play "Zekameron" is a story about the paradoxical ability to stay free in captivity and to preserve one's humanity in inhumane conditions.
