ONCE UPON A TIME IN A FOREST ist eine filmische Ode an eine Gruppe junger AktivistInnen, die sich für den Schutz der finnischen Wälder einsetzen. Dabei stossen sie auf die Interessen der Forstwirtschaft und des politischen Systems sowie auf die tief verwurzelte Ansicht, dass der Wald eine wichtige Grundlage für den wirtschaftlichen Wohlstand Finnlands ist. Obwohl die AktivistInnen in Konsultationsprozesse eingebunden sind, tragen diese keine Früchte, und sie beschliessen, direkt zu handeln. Ihnen steht ein harter Kampf bevor. Eine unkonventionelle Liebeserklärung an die Wälder, die biologische Vielfalt und die umweltbewusste Jugend von heute.
