Tasting: A Taste of Ghana - The Story Behind Bioko Treats
A valid Schoggifestival admission ticket is always required to take part in Schoggifestival events. Children up to the age of 12 do not pay Schoggifestival admission. Paid events must be booked separately for children and adults.
Bioko Treats invites you to a unique tasting event featuring their exquisite dark chocolates crafted with Ghanaian ingredients. Guests will have the opportunity to savor these handcrafted treats while Jeanne Donkoh, founder of Bioko Treats, shares the story behind her bean-to-bar chocolate company based in Accra, Ghana.
Jeanne will discuss the challenges of running an artisanal chocolate business in a country where cocoa is primarily exported as a raw material. She aims to highlight the importance of adding value locally by using traceable cocoa beans and incorporating Ghanaian flavors like cashews, tigernuts, and tropical fruits. Her journey reflects a commitment to proving that Ghanaian-made chocolates can meet international standards while supporting sustainable practices and local communities.
