The Nightingale and the Rose is a fairy tale by Oscar Wilde. It tells the story of a young student who longs for a red rose to give to the girl he loves. A nightingale overhears his wish and sacrifices its life, pressing its heart against a thorn to create the perfect red rose. However, when the student presents the rose to the girl, she rejects it, and the nightingale’s sacrifice goes unappreciated. The story explores themes of love, sacrifice, and the contrast between idealism and reality. But Theatre BELOE will show you its own new interpritation! ⠀
