Marwan Kaabour's book ‘𝓣𝓱𝓮 𝓠𝓾𝓮𝓮𝓻 𝓐𝓻𝓪𝓫 𝓖𝓵𝓸𝓼𝓼𝓪𝓻𝔂’ was released this summer: it is the first published collection of Arabic LGBTQ+ slangs. The spicy glossary is a unique overview of the linguistic landscape around queerness in the Arab world. The event is followed by a club night curated by sososo.space and Kapitel Bollwerk featuring activist artists from the SWANA region / arab community: Mânaa, Mulah & Idris. They three are seving bass heavy club & rave sounds to the club floor, influenced by their heritage. Mânaa is known for music that will make you move till the end of every long clubnight. Idris brings bass & breaks, vibing forever while Mulah hits different with a wide variousity of music styles, fresh, unique, playful, rap & early 2000 rnb influenced.

Im Sommer wurde Marwan Kaabours Buch «The Queer Arab Glossary» veröffentlicht: es ist die erste veröffentlichte Sammlung von arabischem LGBTQ+-Begriffen. Der Sprachführer ist eine einzigartige Übersicht über die linguistische Landschaft rund um das Thema Queerness in der arabischen Welt. Ausserdem haben namhafte arabische Künstler*innen, Akademiker*innen, Aktivisten*innen und Schriftsteller*innen bereichernde Essays zum Buch beigetragen. Das Gespräch mit Marwan Kaabour findet am 15. November statt. Marwan Kaabour, in Beirut geboren und lebt und arbeitet derzeit in London, ist Grafikdesigner, Künstler und Schriftsteller und Gründer von «Takweer» – einem Online-Archiv für queere Narrative in der arabischen Geschichte und Populärkultur. Seine interdisziplinäre Praxis schafft Verbindungen zwischen Kommunikation, Design, Pädagogik und politischem Aktivismus.
Ein Büchertisch von Queerbooks mit ausgewählten Titeln zu Marwans Buch wird vor Ort sein und «The Queer Arab Glossary» wird ebenfalls zum Kauf erhältlich sein.
Im Anschluss an das Gespräch findet eine vom soso und Kapitel Bollwerk kuratierte Clubnacht statt, mit aktivistischen Künstler*innen aus der SWANA-Region/arabischen Community: Mânaa, Mulah & Idris.
